You sit down to write a post. The cursor blinks at you. You stare at it. It stares back. And after twenty minutes of typing, deleting and retyping, you give up and go make a cup of tea instead.
Or maybe you do manage to post something. You hit publish, feel a little flutter of pride… and then hear absolutely nothing. No comments. No enquiries. Just the digital equivalent of a tumbleweed rolling past.
If your content has been feeling a bit meh lately, I want you to know two things.
First, you’re absolutely not alone. And second, it’s almost certainly not because you’re rubbish at this.
Let’s dig into what’s really going on and what you can actually do about it.
So what does “meh” content actually look like?
You might recognise a few of these tell-tale signs:
- You post sporadically – usually in a panic, when you suddenly realise it’s been three weeks since you last showed up.
- It sounds a bit… generic. The kind of thing that could have been written by anyone, about anything.
- You’ve leaned on AI to fill the gap, and it came out flat, impersonal and a little bit soulless.
- You’re getting the odd polite like from a few peers but no actual enquiries from the clients you want.
- And deep down, you know it just doesn’t sound like YOU.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: meh content isn’t bad content. It’s forgettable content.
And in a lot of ways, that’s worse. Bad content at least provokes a reaction. Forgettable content just quietly disappears into the feed, taking your hard work with it.
The real reason your content feels meh
Here it is, plain and simple: you’re too close to your own business to see it clearly.
And if you’re a VA or copywriter? Oh, you’ve got it even worse. (I say this with love, because I’m both of those!)
Think about it. We spend all day, every day, writing in our clients’ voices. We get under the skin of their brand, their audience, their tone of voice. We make everyone else sound brilliant. It’s literally what we’re good at.
And then we close the laptop, and our own content? It’s last on the list. Squeezed into five rushed minutes between client work, written when we’re already knackered, and posted with a shrug and a silent “that’ll do.”
But here’s the kicker. Because we can work with almost anyone, we try to appeal to almost everyone.
Our message gets watered down, broadened out and made so general that it ends up speaking to no one in particular. We’re so busy helping everyone else sound amazing that our own content sits gathering dust.
The irony is almost painful, isn’t it? The very people who are best at content are often the worst at doing it for themselves.
And honestly, this doesn’t just apply to VAs and copywriters. If you’re a coach, a consultant or any kind of service-based business owner, you’ll feel it too.
When you’re in the business, it’s so hard to step back and see what makes you genuinely different. You’re too close. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this expression before: “it’s like trying to read the label from inside the jar“.
The good news? This is completely normal, wildly common and entirely fixable.
Why “just post more” won’t fix it
Whenever content isn’t working, the advice is always the same, isn’t it? Be more consistent! Post more often! Show up every single day! Feed the algorithm!
But let’s be honest about where that leads. If your content is meh, then posting more of it just gives you… more meh. Faster.
You end up exhausted, churning out forgettable posts on a treadmill that never seems to go anywhere.
The problem was never your volume, your frequency or the algorithm having a grump.
The problem is clarity or rather, the lack of it. Clarity on your voice, on exactly who you’re talking to, and on what you actually want to say.
You don’t need to post more. You just need to post more like YOU. So how on earth do you do that?
Taking your content from meh to yeah!
Fear not, I’ve got your back – especially if you’re a VA or copywriter!
I’ve created a brand new offer called The Content Power-Up!™.
It’s a *60-minute strategy power hour designed to do one thing, to take your content from meh to yeah. From vague to clear. From “sounds like everyone else” to “that’s so unmistakably ME.”
Together, we dig into who you really are, who you’re genuinely best placed to help, and what makes you different from every other person doing what you do. Then I take all of that lovely raw material and turn it into a proper strategy you can actually use.
You walk away with three things written just for you: a Tone of Voice Guide so you always sound like yourself, a Dream Client Profile so you know exactly who you’re talking to, and a Bespoke Content Strategy packed with tailored ideas, example posts and emails, and relevant awareness days to hook your content around.
No jargon. No “just post more” nonsense. No content that reads like a robot wrote it. Just clarity, confidence and a voice that’s finally, unmistakably yours.
I’m kicking things off with a special introductory price of just £75, and I’m only opening a handful of spots to begin with – my fellow VAs and copywriters get first dibs.
*Heads up, you’ll need to do some pre-call homework before we start to make the most of our hour together but I promise it’ll be worth it!
